The glutes are composed of 3 muscles - the glute minimus, glute medius and glute maximus. The glute min and med are more proximal (meaning closer to the centre) and primarily provide stablilization, where as the larger glute max is the farthest from centre with the primary role as a "big mover". We need to set the pelvis into it's neutral position so that the glutes have their full range of motion. When the glutes lack strength, endurance and the ability to fire quickly other muscles, especially the back or small muscles of the pelvic floor can be recruited to pick up the slack - but then get kinda cranky about it! Join this class to fire up your glutes!
